Easter at Disney World: 2024 Guide

Sharing is caring!

The first time we spent Easter at Disney World, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. If you’re like me, you might be wondering, “does Disney do anything for Easter?” Disney World is usually big on holidays of all types, and Easter is no exception.  The one thing that surprised me, however, is that it can be hard to find information on things to do at Disney World for Easter until you’re actually there. If you’re planning on an Easter vacation in Disney, keep reading for more information, from things to do in the parks to the resorts.

Note: Actual events, times and dates are always subject to change. Be sure to ask your resort for more info when you check in.

What to Expect for Easter in Disney World

Easter Day is on March 31, 2024 this year. The weather at Disney World for Easter is usually ideal, since the humidity hasn’t yet set in for the most part and the days are warm but not overly hot. Given that many schools have off for Easter week, the week before Easter and the week after Easter tend to draw a decent amount of crowds. For that reason, I recommend Genie+ every day when visiting Disney World for Easter break, regardless of the park.

The Easter holiday at Disney brings special activities in the parks, displays at the resort, plus fun treats and souvenirs.

Grand Floridian Easter Egg Display

Seeing the Easter eggs at Grand Floridian is one of the best parts about visiting Disney at Easter. (Even if you’re not staying at the resort!) The opening dates for the 2024 Easter display at Grand Floridian are March 3- April 1, 2024. The display is made up of huge decorated eggs entirely from chocolate, and the details are impressive. The Easter Egg display at Grand Floridian takes place in the resort’s lobby. The eggs are elaborately decorated, and they typically capture different Disney movies and characters.

While you’re visiting the Easter display at Grand Floridian, you can also purchase Easter treats at the Grand Cottage from March 3- April 1, 2024. There you can find themed goodies like a Bunny Burrow Dirt Cup, Easter Marshmallow Pop and more.

In addition to the Grand Floridian Easter display, additional resorts will feature these displays:

  • The egg displays at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will return with hand painted eggs from movies like Hercules and Elemental
  • Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will feature a Moana themed display and is another great place for Disney World easter eggs.
  • Disney’s Beach Club Resort will have a special easter display featuring mini versions of the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival topiaries.

You can find more information on the 2024 Easter displays at Disney World resorts here

Easter Parade at Disney World

The main Festival of Fantasy Parade in Magic Kingdom is still taking place on Easter day at 12pm and 3pm. Typically, right before the main parade, there’s an additional Walt Disney World Easter Parade. It’s usually a short cavalcade type parade that includes Mr. & Mrs. Bunny along with other springtime favorites.

Be sure to get to your parade spot early on Easter weekend, as the Easter parade at Magic Kingdom typically runs about 15 minutes prior to the regularly scheduled parade. This isn’t always published in the My Disney Experience app, so for most people it’s a pleasant surprise. Be on the lookout for more details on the 2024 Easter parade at Disney World!

The special thumper balloons at Disney World were only available Easter weekend in Magic Kingdom last year. TBD if they will be available again this year!

P.S. If you’re looking for the best stroller rental in Disney World, our stroller below is from Kingdom Strollers. They drop off/ pick up at many locations including the airport.

Easter Egg Hunt at Epcot

The Epcot Easter Egg Hunt is a fun way to keep kids engaged as you explore the World Showcase. Throughout the park, there are decorated Easter eggs hidden that make a fun little scavenger hunt. While you can do it on your own, we like purchasing the official scavenger hunts at Epcot as a fun souvenir. If you’re visiting Epcot at Easter, you can pay $9.99 to purchase the scavenger hunt at Gateway Gifts, and it also includes a prize. The prizes typically vary each year. Last year, my kids chose plastic Lion King themed easter eggs for their prize.

FYI, they typically give you the prize when you pick up the map to make sure everyone who participates gets the prize. We rarely finish the entire scavenger hunt when visiting Epcot with toddlers, so this is a great perk!

Another amazing part about visiting Epcot for Easter is that the Flower & Garden Festival occurs at that time. The 2024 Flower & Garden Festival dates are from February to May 28th, so it will be in full swing for Disney World Easter celebrations.

Where to See the Easter Bunny at Disney World

The best place to see the Easter Bunny at Disney World is at Magic Kingdom. Mr. & Mrs. Bunny typically do meet and greets in the pavilion off of Main Street over Easter weekend. If you check the My Disney Experience app during your visit, they will typically pop up on the days they are there. Visitation hours will vary and typically take place around parade times on Saturday and Sunday of Easter weekend.

If you get lucky, you may also find the Easter Bunny at your resort on Easter Day. He will occasionally make visits during the Easter festivities at Disney World Resorts.

Resort Activities on Easter Day at Disney World

There are so many things to do at the Disney resorts on Easter Day that I recommend reserving it for a resort/ rest day if your schedule allows. Some sample activities at Disney Resorts on Easter Day include:

  • Candy scramble for the kids on the lawn areas
  • Easter themed scavenger hunt
  • Lawn party with crafts and activities
  • Bunny Hop Dance Party
  • Special Easter themed nighttime movie showing

Which Disney resort is best for Easter?

If you’re looking for the best resort to stay at in Disney for Easter, I highly recommend a monorail resort if it’s in your budget. Between the easter displays at Grand Floridian and Contemporary, and the monorail access to Magic Kingdom and Epcot, they are well situated for all the Easter fun. We personally stayed at Polynesian Resort for Easter and the activities at the resort were great.

Best Place for Easter Brunch at Disney World

There are so many great choices for brunch at Disney, and Easter is no exception. While Disney doesn’t tend to have special menus for Easter Brunch, I’ve included some of the best places for brunch at Disney World below.

  • Magic Kingdom– Crystal Palace and Cinderella’s Royal Table
  • Epcot– Garden Grille or Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
  • Hollywood Studios– Minnie’s Springtime Surprise at Hollywood & Vine for lunch (the breakfast has Disney Jr characters and does not have the spring themed characters)
  • Animal Kingdom– Tusker House Restaurant
  • Disney Resorts– 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian, Cape May Cafe at Beach Club, Ohana at Polynesian Resort or Topolino’s at Riviera Resort
  • Disney Springs– Chef Arts Homecomin’ or Maria & Enzo’s (Can’t go wrong with bottomless mimosas at Disney!)

If you’re looking for special Easter treats at Disney World, stay tuned for more info on 2024 Easter goodies! We also ordered the most adorable (and yummy) Disney Easter chocolates from A New Hope Confections last year and highly recommend them. They can deliver to your resort or ship home, and you can find more info here

Easter Church Services at Disney World

Visiting Disney World at Easter but don’t want to miss out on church? Contemporary Resort has held Easter services on Disney property in the past. Although details on church services are tough to find in advance, you can ask for details and times for Easter mass at Disney World when you check into your resort.

If you’re looking for churches near Disney World for Easter services, there are also several nearby. We love visiting the town of Celebration near Disney, and it has both the Celebration Community Church and the Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Mary, Queen of Universe is another popular church if you’re looking for a Catholic Church at Disney World.

Recommended Itinerary for Easter Weekend at Disney World

When we last visited Disney at Easter, we had a park hopper and ended up going to Magic Kingdom in the morning and Epcot in the evening. That said, next time I would choose a resort day vs a park day for Easter at Disney World.

  • Good Friday or the week leading up to Easter: Do the Epcot Easter activities like the scavenger hunt and 2024 Flower & Garden Festival
  • Saturday before Easter: Visit Magic Kingdom for the parade and seeing the Easter Bunny at Magic Kingdom
  • Easter Day at Disney: Resort Day
    • Have Easter brunch at Disney World
    • Participate in all of the fun activities at your resort
    • Attend church services (if that’s important to you!)
    • Resort hop to Grand Floridian and Contemporary or Beach Club & Yacht Club for the easter displays
